The committee members are BRR range from a diversified background. These superstars are elected at the AGM. Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity can produce a feeling of self-worth and respect. There is no financial gain involved for the individual. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, socialization, and fun. It is also intended to make contacts for possible employment. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work, such as medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Others serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural.

History of BRR

Bahrain Road Runners (BRR) had a dream since early seventies. The committee realised from the beginning that in order for this dream to come into reality, it would take an awful lot of determination, dedication, self discipline and effort. To set the scene we have to travel back before the advent of the Striders to the Bahrain Hash House Harriers (BH3) which was started by expats here in 1972 and ran as any H3 group does until 1979, when they decided to organise a Marathon in celebration of the visit to Bahrain of Queen Elizabeth II.
